Today, one of our users complained that after changing the subject of the discussion item, it still remains unchanged in the flat view breadcrumb navigation. After some analysis found the reason behind the issue, the discussion items are kept as folder (Discussion) if you then change the discussion name, it does not automatically update the folder name. We need to have custom solution for changing the folder name also when the subject is changed. In this scenario we need either workflow or event receiver. But there is a workaround for this issue, editing the folder name with explorer. Open the site in the windows explorer like \\rjesh\sites\samplesitecol then open lists folder and then try to find the folder with the given name for your discussions list. You'll be able to find the folder which needs to be renamed, once renamed go back to discussion in the browser, you'll be able to see the changes in the subject as well as in the bread crumb.
